Alice & Grant
With a wedding priority list that included great food and drink and a venue that provided beautiful spaces for them to celebrate with their loved ones, Alice and Grant began to plan their December wedding. Their dream of a cosy winter wedding meant that they needed the perfect seasonal venue and finding the right location was top of the to-dos.
Alice and Grant started their search for a venue that would be perfect for the wedding they wanted without being too formal and Clock Barn definitely ticked all the boxes.
“We fell in love with Clock Barn the first time we saw it. It’s such a beautiful space and it’s big enough that it doesn’t feel cramped but is still intimate, which is just what we wanted. As we chose a December date, we wanted somewhere that would allow everyone to be inside all day without feeling trapped and Clock Barn was perfect.” – Alice.
With their December date booked and the wonderful Clock Barn Christmas tree due to be in place on their date, Alice and Grant opted for a seasonal theme with a colour palette featuring burgundy, grey and silver.
“We mostly used flowers by Garden Inn for our decorations because the barn is such a beautiful space, we didn’t feel that it needed any extra dressing. We did use a pallet to show our order of the day, which we created ourselves, and our table numbers were pictures that were unique to us.” – Alice.
The couple’s ceremony table was decorated with a low arrangement of blooms that worked perfectly with the colour palette along with some seasonal foliage and pine cones. There was more seasonal foliage, berries and blooms throughout the barn and what could be better for a December wedding than mistletoe? A lush bunch, finished with burgundy ribbon, hung between the entrance to the Main Barn and dancefloor.
Alice chose an Ella Rose gown and the strapless dress, which Alice wore with a lace jacket, was absolutely beautiful.
“I also wore, Carvela shoes in a gorgeous burgundy and a Richard Designs headpiece along with a sapphire bracelet that belonged to my late Granny, which was my something old, borrowed and blue.” – Alice.
Grant wore a mid-grey three-piece suit from Next with a cream rose buttonhole while Alice’s bridesmaids wore lovely burgundy high-necked maxi-dresses from TFNC London. Worn with grey pashminas and silver bracelets, Alice’s maids looked fabulous throughout the day.
For their winter wedding, Alice and Grant held their marriage ceremony at Clock Barn and then moved straight on to celebrating their wedding with drinks and canapes that included warming favourites including mini shepherd’s pie, mini Yorkshire puddings with roast beef and also crispy pork belly.
“A really wonderful touch was whilst we were outside, having our photos taken, a member of the team came out to give us some canapes knowing that we were probably starving. It was such a thoughtful gesture and we really appreciated it.” – Alice.
For their wedding breakfast, Alice and Grant chose crispy duck salad to start followed by roast chicken and all the trimmings and a luscious chocolate brownie for dessert. There was more food, including pizza and the couple’s amazing cupcake tower by The Pastry Corner, in the evening and the famous hard lemonade stand also made an appearance. Alice admits that raspberry vodka with raspberry lemonade is her new favourite drinks!
“We worked with DJ Chris Burford who was amazing. He managed all the music for the ceremony, reception and evening and he even ran a quiz during our meal and that definitely kept everyone entertained between courses.”
To get the party started, Alice and Grant hit the dancefloor to ‘Die A Happy Man’ by Thomas Rhett and the song was perfect for all the happy men, and women, at Clock Barn that night.
“My favourite moment of the day had to be walking down the aisle to meet Grant and seeing him for the first time that day. I just loved seeing everyone I loved in one room.” – Alice.
“My advice would be not to sweat the small stuff. All those things that seem so important just melt away on the day so don’t worry if things aren’t exactly how you want them.” – Alice.
“Everyone tells you how quickly the day goes and they are so right! Just take a few minutes on the day to sit back and take it all in because it really will be over before you know it. If I could do it again, I wouldn’t do anything differently – it was the perfect day!” – Alice.
