5 Wedding Trends For 2023

The team at Clock Barn are already super excited for 2023 and we can’t wait to welcome all the new couples who’ll be celebrating with us in the next 12 months.

Each year, we see new and beautiful wedding trends – from fabulous wedding theme colour schemes to fashion, florals and sustainable wedding options. There’s just so much to look forward to!

So pop on the kettle and take a look at our guide to the top wedding trends of 2023.

Colour is IN

Whilst white weddings, neutrals and pastels won’t be disappearing any time soon, couples are beginning to be bolder with their colour schemes. Originality and the use of local flowers and suppliers is resulting in unique schemes that truly reflect YOU.

We’re expecting to see a lot more of Pantone’s Color of the Year 2023 – Viva Magenta, alongside oranges and an array of pinks and reds, as well as purples and blues.

There are lots of ways to inject colour into your wedding. Obviously, your wedding flowers really make a difference but don’t forget table stationery, coloured glasses and bold coloured table runners.

We are also expecting to see more colourful wedding dresses flouncing down the aisle at Clock Barn next year too. At 2023 Bridal Fashion Week, designers showcased vibrant floral prints as well as baby blue and pastel pink wedding dresses.

Say cheese! Oh please…

Both couples and photographers are expected to continue to move away from fixed group shots and poses in favour of candid and natural wedding day photography that captures the essence of the day.

Look out for artistic, blurred photographs that capture movement and emotion rather than perfection and stillness. Film photography is another increasingly popular choice that delivers a romantic, vintage effect with added texture and grain.

First looks are set to increase in popularity over the coming years, with photographers tasked with capturing the emotional moment that a couple sees each other for the first time, either before the ceremony or as they walk down the aisle.

Outdoor Weddings

Did you know that since the pandemic, couples can now legally get married in any location outdoors, providing the venue has a wedding licence?

This has opened up opportunities for couples to personalise their wedding ceremonies and receptions with different backdrops – marrying in forests or beside water. We’re even expecting more summer weddings to feature outdoor wedding breakfasts.

There has also been a marked increase in the trend for twilight weddings, which offer stunning photo opportunities for autumn / winter weddings.

Sustainability

Sustainability, minimising waste, sourcing locally where possible and eradicating single use items wherever possible is something that couples are taking increasingly seriously, as well as wedding venues and suppliers.

Usable wedding favours such as seeds, candles, and soaps, will become more popular, and couples are likely to expect wedding flowers to be in season and ideally sourced locally rather than being flown or shipped across the world.

Couples will continue to reuse their flowers throughout the day, deconstructing arches or installations and using bouquets as table centerpieces.

Dried and preserved flowers have become a fast-growing trend in weddings this year, and we expect their popularity to continue rising throughout 2023. They give a vintage feel to centerpieces and installations, and a boho feel to bouquets, and enable textures and shapes to be used alongside seasonal blooms for added interest and unique personalisation.

Bridal style

We’re expecting to see pearls, bridal suits, embroidery and colour gracing the aisle in 2023, with lots to look out for in the world of bridal accessories too.
